Thaiphoon Restaurant Palo AltoThaiphoon is a quaint Thai restaurant just off University Avenue in downtown Palo Alto. It's a great place for lunch or dinner with both indoor and outdoor patio seating. They do have a full bar with some exotic cocktails like the Spiked Mango Lassi, Lychee Martini, and Lemongrass Mojito. My favorite appetizer is the Egg Roll Samosa -- Indian-style fried rolls filled with potatoes, peas, and curry seasoning and served with peanut sauce. I'm also a big fan of the Green Papaya Salad and Seabass in Tamarind Sauce (although this one does exceed the $12 cap at $13.95).

You'll get the best deal at lunch with their combo specials that are served with salad and rice; all under $9 each. And, don't forget the Thai Iced Tea.
